Northport

Although this is an expansive summer home with the most modern amenities, techniques used in the finishing detail – including custom cabinetry – make it resemble a cozy, traditional cottage. Nestled in the preserved sand dunes of Lake Michigan and boasting stunning water views, the 5,475-square-foot residence has a flowing floor plan with an open living room, kitchen and dining room, a home office, a four-season sunroom off the main-floor master bedroom suite, and a screened-in porch overlooking the lake. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, and each bath has its own spa tub. An elevator in house allows for aging in place. There is also a special detached garage for the owner’s workshop. The owners also chose to forego carpeting, opting instead for wide-plank reclaimed white oak throughout. Exposed, hand-hewn timbers of Eastern white pine add to the cottage feel.
